Chilies have been part of the South American diet for thousands of years. Christopher Columbus brought back chili seeds when he returned to Spain in 1493, and cultivated chilies spread throughout the world. Chilies are an excellent source of vitamin C. They are also a good source of vitamins A and K (important for helping your blood to clot). Chilies contain dietary fiber, folate, and other minerals.
